Mommy Perks Review
Friday, August 14th, 2009See Mommy Perks Review….A few weeks ago I received an email, asking if I’d like to review a book called Stickie Story. I agreed and gave the address for which to mail a copy of the book. The book arrived…from Argentina. My first International review. Exciting, eh?
Stickie Story (Space Adventure is the title I reviewed) is a 12 page book including the cover page that offers directions for how to use your story. Customers can go to the website, upload photos and those photos are turned into stickers. The stickers are printed and shipped with the book, along with stickers that contain the book text.
In other words, the book can be used with JUST the photo stickers (as a picture book) or you can enhance the book by using the pre-written text (this would be great for older children who have a longer attention span and can sit to hear the story line).I have decided to tell people (in joke) that I have a PhD in life experience
So…based on my background with children, I like the fact that this book personalizes the stickers; that’s a huge draw for a child and will quickly engage them. When personal images are used the learning process soars to new levels (research has now proven this, in fact). If I were to make one suggestion it would be this: the stickers on which the book text is written are centered. Centered text is hard to read, especially for a child. Left aligning the text would be more beneficial and literacy efficient.I’m not sure if the stickers are supposed to be removable in order to be replaced, however, I did remove one a few times and the sticker held up. If that were done too many times, of course, the backing would lose it’s adherence. Each book order can contain one main character and up to three secondary characters (parents, siblings, friends). I searched the site to see if the books can be created in various languages but was not able to locate that information. The directions page, however, is bi-lingual (English/Spanish).All in all, I am always an advocate for books and believe that the purchase of good books is money well spent. For $19 (USD) I’d say this is a purchase worth making.Fan Stickie Story on faceook.Go to Mommy Perks review
